ZAG is a partner of the InnoRenew CoE

The underlying concept of the InnoRenew project is to develop and operate a new Centre of Excellence, the InnoRenew CoE, that will conduct cutting edge scientific research related to renewable materials utilisation, develop industrially relevant applications of scientific developments and innovations, support businesses in their implementation of RDI activities and outcomes, and liaise with policy makers to direct more support to companies and research in the forest sector. The InnoRenew CoE’s activities will be centred on two key distinguishing technologies that set it apart from other institutions:

  • wood modification and
  • restorative environmental and ergonomic design (REED).

Project

The InnoRenew project is the H2020 funded action of the project partners (including the new institute) to establish the InnoRenew CoE as a successful, sustainable research organisation. The project includes collaborative research between the institute and its partners, mentoring, and operational activities.

The InnoRenew project started on 1st April 2017.

Institute

The InnoRenew CoE itself is the new independent and autonomous institute that that will employ researchers, conduct its own research, enhance and extend partner capabilities, and provide services to society in line with its overall research and societal objectives.

The InnoRenew CoE was formally established on 15th February 2017.

The project includes the operation the “Renewable Materials and Healthy Environments Research and Innovation Center of Excellence – InnoRenew CoE”. The operation is partially co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. The operation is carried out under Priority Axis 1: “International Competitiveness of Research, Innovation and Technological Development in accordance with the Smart Specialization for Greater Competitiveness and Greening of the Economy” Priority Investment 1.1 “Strengthening the infrastructure for research and innovation and capacity to develop excellence in this field, including the promotion of competent centers, in particular those of European interest “in the framework of the Operational Program for the Implementation of the European Cohesion Policy 2014-2020.
