Laboratory for Metals, Corrosion and Anti-Corrosion Protection

  • we offer technical and expert support in the field of metals – corrosion and anti-corrosion protection
  • we co-operate with industry, enterprises, and individuals who encounter problems or questions in connection with metals
  • we combine together researchers and experts from different fields (metallurgy, chemistry, mechanical engineering, physics), and co-operate with researchers and experts in both Slovenia and other countries
  • we provide high professional standards, the latest knowledge, and top-class research equipment

Services

  • Tests and testing procedures of:
    • Properties of metallic and non-metallic materials, products, and systems
    • Corrosion
    • Anti-corrosion protection of non-metallic and metallic coatings
    • Non-destructive investigations of defects and damage to metal elements as well as to welded and other types of connections
    • Metals in contact with drinking water
  • Assessments, opinions, expert studies, inspections and surveillance
  • Special inspections of cableway installations
  • Certification and the issuing of Technical Assessments and Agreements
  • Education and training

Research and development

  • Development of sensors for monitoring the corrosion of metals in concrete
  • Corrosion of copper in bentonite
  • Mechanisms of local corrosion processes - stress corrosion cracking
  • Tribo-corrosion processes
  • Structures belonging to the cultural heritage
  • Corrosion issues in connection with drinking water distribution systems
  • The effect of surface treatments on the corrosion of stainless steels
